May 8, 2023 (Last Updated: December 2, 2023)

Looking for ways to indulge your sweet tooth without sacrificing your health goals? Our collection of over 30 delicious and healthy sugar-free dessert recipes is here to inspire you for any occasion.

Six years sugar-free

From cookies and muffins to elaborate birthday cakes and festive treats, our healthy, sugar-free desserts promise to delight your palate.

These healthy dessert recipes were created in the six years since I gave up sugar (August 2017). Given such tasty alternatives, traditional sugary desserts no longer tempt me.

Looking for sugar-free desserts without artificial sweeteners?

You’ve come to the right place.

While I do occasionally incorporate small amounts of my preferred low-calorie natural sweeteners—such as monk fruit, a blend of stevia and erythritol, or allulose—I never substitute sugar with the same amount of sweetener.

I recently saw a ‘keto’ recipe that suggested replacing a cup of sugar with an equivalent amount of sweetener. Such substitutions often lead to undesirable aftertastes or digestive issues (and we don’t know what the effect is in the long term!). That’s something you’ll never find in my recipes. I might add two or three tablespoons of a natural sweetener to a 10-serving dessert.

I steer clear of artificial sweeteners like aspartame or sucralose, as well as high-glycemic ones like agave syrup. Instead, I create my healthy dessert recipes with naturally sweet ingredients, such as tigernut flour, chestnut flour, coconut flour, almond flour, hazelnut flour, sweet potatoes, nuts, and coconut.

When I do use sweeteners, they’re often natural, low-calorie options like inulin powder, monk fruit, or yacon syrup. Occasionally, I might incorporate small amounts of dried dates or figs. But rest assured; I never use any form of sugar, coconut sugar included.

While most of my sugar-free desserts are diabetic-friendly, it’s crucial for individuals to monitor their blood sugar reactions. And for those on a keto diet, recipes suitable for you are clearly marked in the introductions.
