Because our skin is our body’s largest organ, safer skincare matters
I haven’t had a beauty routine in so long. When I started The Plant Paradox protocol, in August 2017, I decided to give up all my beauty products, because even though I was quite careful with my choices for personal care, I was still not convinced the products I used were safe.
If you’ve read The Plant Paradox book, by Dr. Steven Gundry, you noticed that food is not the only disruptor that negatively affects our health. Plastic, toxic cookware, BPA, furniture and household products, and cosmetic products, among others, are wreaking havoc in our endocrine system and create hormonal imbalances that lead to disease.
Most of the cosmetic products on the market are not safe
Unfortunately, most of the cosmetic products on the market are not safe, and if you are like me (better safe than sorry kind of gal) you give up using cosmetic products altogether. I think I could afford to get away with it for so long because I’ve been blessed with good genes (women in my family tend to have good skin) but still…
My skin, although clean, was getting dry and dull and just didn’t look happy. Good food and supplements help to clear the skin from inside out, but there is something a good cleanser, mask and moisturizer can do as nothing else can.
I wanted that clean, healthy, glowing look!
Well, thanks to an amazing lady who introduced me to Beautycounter and their mission to create and promote safer, cleaner products for everyone, going as far as urging the government of the United States to pass laws to better regulate the beauty industry, I found it. — The US, who allows the use of 1,500 harmful chemicals banned by the European Union, has not passed a major federal law to regulate the beauty industry since 1938 (before World War II!).
I am a fan of healthy, natural glow, and although I like a little touch of make-up, I really love when women are confident enough to go bare face. I think it’s beautiful and inspiring and authentic to see someone confident.
So my priority, when I started to order my Beautycounter products, was to first get all the basics. For my face, I desperately needed a good cleanser and a mask, an oil and a moisturizer. For my body I needed a good shower gel and a body cream. And lipstick for a touch of color. I’m absolutely in love with all the products I’ve tried, and I am confident to recommend them further. This was my first shopping list:
