Description

This fresh strawberry salsa is a vibrant, fragrant, and surprisingly savory alternative to traditional tomato salsa. Sweet, ripe strawberries bring brightness and juiciness, while herbs, onion, and lime create the familiar balance of a classic salsa. Whether you avoid tomatoes or other nightshade vegetables, or simply want a fresh twist for tacos, grilled meats, or fish, this easy recipe comes together in just a few minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 big strawberries (or 6-7 if they are smaller)
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped (or 3 tablespoons finely chopped red onion)
  • a small handful of chopped fresh cilantro
  • juice of about 1/2 lime, or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • salt (use a finishing salt, a good quality one)
  • freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Season to taste.
  2. Refrigerate for about 15-30 minutes before eating to allow all the flavors to come together.
  3. Serve with tacos, grilled meats or vegetables.

Notes

Serve with tacos.
