Description

Did you know you can make a much healthier version of Nutella at home in just five minutes? You only need four main ingredients (two of which are hazelnuts and cacao) and a food processor or immersion blender to make this sugar-free Nutella. This hazelnut chocolate spread is creamy, delicious, and good for you! The perfect healthy sweet treat to enjoy with your favorite low-sugar fruits, keto crackers, cakes, and more!

Ingredients

IF YOU MAKE HAZELNUT BUTTER

  • 2 cups raw hazelnuts

IF YOU USE STORE-BOUGHT HAZELNUT BUTTER

  • 1 cup 100% hazelnut butter (just one ingredient)

ADD-INS

  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder (add a couple of teaspoons more for a more intense chocolate taste)
  • 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon C8 MCT oil (extra virgin olive oil will work too)
  • 1 tablespoon liquid sweetener (Yacon syrup, Allulose syrup, Lakanto monk fruit syrup)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
  • pinch of Himalayan pink salt (make sure is just a small pinch, not more!)

Instructions

IF YOU MAKE HAZELNUT BUTTER

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F/180C. Roast the hazelnut on a baking tray, for about 15 minutes. The skins will crack, and they will smell divine.
  2. With the help of a dry towel, remove the skins by rubbing the hazelnuts with the towel. Don’t worry if not all the skins come off. Remove as much as you can and separate the hazelnuts from the skins.
  3. Process the hazelnuts in a powerful food processor, high-power blender or with a powerful stick blender until you get hazelnut butter (follow the instructions on your machine manual!).
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients and combine.

IF YOU USE STORE BOUGHT HAZELNUT BUTTER

  1. Combine the hazelnut butter with all the rest of the ingredients in a blender or food processor (or with a stick blender).
  2. Store in an air-tight jar in the refrigerator for up to a month.
  3. See post for adjustments and substitutions.
