5 Stars 4 Stars 3 Stars 2 Stars 1 Star No reviews

Description

Spicy, strong, fruity, vibrant, and a mood and immunity-booster; completely alcohol-free and good for your health. What more can you wish from a shot? Try these ginger turmeric shots to mark the special moments in your life this holiday season or to give your immune system a boost when needed. They are made with widely available ingredients and are ready in just a few minutes. A blender is the only tool you need.

Ingredients

  • thumb-size turmeric root, chopped (about 20 grams)
  • thumb-size ginger root, chopped (about 20 grams)
  • 1/4 of a medium grapefruit (I left the white membrane on as it’s full of nutrients)
  • 1/2 orange, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon local, raw honey (or Manuka honey)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon MCT oil (will help with curcumin absorption)
  • a pinch of freshly ground black pepper (helps with curcumin absorption)
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup filtered water

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until liquid.
  2. Serve immediately or store for up to a day in the refrigerator. Shake before serving.
  3. Optional: you can strain the liquid using a nut milk bag, but I don’t recommend it as there are a lot of nutrients in the pulp. The shot has a thicker consistency than a usual juice.

Notes

If you buy organic turmeric and ginger, and they look fresh and vibrant, you don’t need to remove the peels; scrub them well with a vegetable brush.

I use leftovers of this concoction to add to salad dressings.
